About Principatus

Principatus is a fan fiction piece I've been working on for the Legend of Zelda universe, and I can't convey how much fun I've had writing it up to this point. Pages of research have gone into the final products (especially for Chapter IV) and I will occasionally publish my notes here on the blog. Now if only I didn't have to waste my time with summer classes so I could spend more time working....

Overview: Four years after returning from Termina, Link stands on the precipice of another adventure. After he inherits a mysterious medallion, the Hero of Time sets off to discover more about not only its origin, but his own past. Haunting nightmares of a shadowy figure betrothed to Princess Zelda, however, threaten to derail his mission as Link teeters on a ledge between his personal calling and sense of duty to the land of Hyrule and its people.

Chapter I: After years of shunning his past in search of comfort and peace, Link inherits a medallion that belonged to his mother. Meanwhile the king sets Zelda up with the prince of a kingdom that betrayed Hyrule during the Civil War. (Complete)

Chapter II: Link leaves the forest in search of answers about the ghosts of his past and the nightmares that have been haunting him. However, there's a noticeable degree of tension in the air when he arrives in Castle Town, eerily akin to the last time an unwelcome visitor had business with the king. (Complete)

Chapter III: After five years, Link and Zelda reunite on the morning the Ten'al-tarians are set to arrive. (Complete)

Chapter IV: Much to Zelda's pleasure, and Link's humiliation, the Hero of Time attends the ambassador's banquette. (Complete)


Chapter V: Zelda and Link sneak off to the library in the middle of the night to investigate the scene of Mercy Middleton's attack. In the meantime they uncover crucial information concerning the origin of Link's medallion. (Complete) 

Chapter VI: Zelda and Link meet with Lord and Lady De Vaux, the Duke and Duchess of Faron, to find out more about the medallion only to discover the past may not be as dead as they once thought...  (Complete) 

Chapter VII: Link visits Lon Lon Ranch before setting out to the Lost Woods. Meanwhile, Zelda has her own problems brewing at the castle involving an obtrusive foreign prince. (Complete)

Chapter VIII: Link wakes up in the hunting cabin of a strange, wild woodsman, Epona has a broken leg, and Zelda can't shake a strange sense of foreboding. (Complete)

Chapter IX: Link comes clean to Caedmon and the King is attacked. (Complete)


Chapter X: Hyrule is threatened and the kingdom must now turn to Zelda as its leader. (In progress)
